CDT Day 107 (Montana) - "Bobbo Series: Ep. 1 "Exodus": Rejuvenated after our stay in Augusta, the team and a group of other hikers made our way back to the CDT. Our first day hiking in the Bob Marshall Wilderness was a beaut including scenic rivers, a black beard horse trains, and a late night lightning spectacle.
CDT Day 106 (Montana) - "Alluring Augusta": Just a quick little town of our nice stay in Augusta. I think each of us really felt the need for a full day of rest and relaxation.
CDT Day 105 (Montana) - "Fleeing Dementors Straightforwardly": After three evenings of dealing with wet clothes and gear, and having some morning dog envelop us, we made a call to push into town rather than spend another night on trail.
CDT Day 104 (Montana) - "Down to the Dearborn": An all around pretty spectacular day. Got some high elevation big Montana mountain views as well as down in the valley views. Hot weather as well as cold, hail, and rainy. What fun will tomorrow bring?
CDT Day 103 (Montana) - "The Yurt and the Hailstorm": Today kicked off with a wet morning packing up, then a neat cloud stream through a shallow pass. A unexpected visit tona yurt, some rollercoaster ridge hiking and to top off the day, a pretty extreme bit of hail and cold rain.
CDT Day 102 (Montana) - "Manifesting Momentum Marveling At Mounds": A memorable day on trail cruising along with Cheer over the many open and exposed mounds of Montana. Awesome stuff!
CDT Day 101 (Montana) - "The Ridge, Nevada, The Tower, and Dave's": A pretty awesome day of solo hiking til I caught up with that others at a Outfitters Place. Things seem to be looking up!
CDT Day 100! (Montana) - "On the Up and Up": My first full day hiking dealing with the Covid. Since slept in, Cheer and Snickers moved ahead and I hiked solo. Pretty sunrise and sunset and cute little cow I shared some water with...
CDT Day 99 (Montana) - "Making A Go At It": After resting up dealing with the Covid, I felt up for making a go at hiking out. Reuniting with Cheer and Snickers, we pushed onwards, me in the back keeping my space at a trudging pace.
CDT Day 98 (MT - Helena) "Sheltering During a Meltering": Not much to today's post. Just an update on how I'm doing after finding out the Covid news yesterday, and my plans for getting back on trail again.
CDT Day 97 (MT - Anaconda to Helena) "Finally Getting Got": After a nice sleep in, a bit of a slog of 6 miles hiking, things took an unexpected turn in town. Didn't see this one coming... bit of a curve ball.
CDT Day 96 (MT - Anaconda to Helena) "Thunderbolt, Green Ground, and T Magic": Making them miles, we continue north. A high of the day was some wonder trail magic, the downer came at the end when hanging food up in the tree.
CDT Day 95 (MT - Anaconda to Helena) - "Back on the Red Line": After the big Anaconda Alternate, we found our way back to the red line today and were greeted by some nice forest, open mountain-sides and giant valley view below.
CDT Day 94 (MT - Anaconda to Helena) - "Road Walking Outta Town": Not the most glamorous of days on the CDT, all road walking today. Even so, there's beauty in the views and in the unique and unexpected things you find along the way, and in the nice strangers you interact with.
CDT Day 93 (MT - Anaconda) - "The Zero, the Hut, and the Dentist": Having pushed to get in yesterday, I enjoyed a full day of hanging in town and resting up. Got stuff done, ate lots of food, and yes made a trip to the dentist today!
CDT Day 92 (Montana) - "Stormy Spider Web Twins Into Anaconda": Stormy Lake Pass, Stormy Lake, Twin Lake Pass, Twin Lakes, and a road walk into the town of Anaconda. Big mileage day, but pretty cruisy miles. Happy for a town day!
CDT Day 91 (Montana) - "Taste the Rainbow": Another stunning day in the Pintlers with a series of serious ups and downs, including Warren Lake, Cutaway Pass, Rainbow Mountain, and Goat Flat!
CDT Day 90 (Montana) - Hikin' Most Our Days in Pintlers' Paradise": The Anaconda-Pintker Wilderness has been superb and today really got us feeling it. Pintler Pass, Johnson Lake, Rainbow Pass, and Rainbow Lake we're top notch.
CDT Day 89 (Montana) - "Frosty Morn, Gentle Day, Moody Late": That pretty much sums it up. Also had a good amount of burned stuff and started to get up high views again. Very tired by the end of it.
CDT Day 88 (Montana) - Let it Be Leaving Darby": Such a great experience getting to stay at Wardrobe's place. Rejuvenated, we slowly made our way back towards trail after visiting Montana Cafe another time of course. And... We're leaving Idaho behind!
CDT Day 87 (Montana) - "Delightful Darby and Wonderful Wardrobe": A morning walk to the highway, hitch into town, a massive grilled cheese cheeseburger, abundant resupply, and hanging with Wardrobe and crew. Amazing!
CDT Day 86 (Montanaho) - "From Lush to Burned": Quite the eventful day. Awesome morning trek high on exposed ridges, lush green creek valleys, encounters with locals, hikers, trail crews, and wildlife, and a beautiful oasis tent site in the burn.
CDT Day 85 (Montanaho) - "Marmot, Chipmunk, and Smoke Passes": Another smokey day from the Moose Fire, some Stevie ponderings, and another day full of mountain scenery.
CDT Day 84 (Montanaho) - "Escape From the Haze": Some amazing up high views today most of which had a two get of smokey haze effecting them. Beyonce came to the rescue during some climbs, and we pushed to Miners Creek. Tough day.
CDT Day 83 (Montanaho) - "A Day of Two Halves": This morning was great. Pretty nice terrain, felt good, and we had some nice conversations as we walked. After lunch, got stomach pains again and terrain got tough. Still, ended with some high up views!
CDT Days 81-82 (Montanaho) - "Lovely Leadore and Beyond": After an absolutely wonderful stay in tiny Leadore, we continued trekking along the Idaho/Montana border. The moose Fire smoke got us pretty good and wasn't feeling well, but onward we went.
CDT Days 77-80 (Montanaho) - "Off the Grid": Due to some battery issues, I combined these limited posts into one. This was a tough section for sure, but we reunited and are moving on.
CDT Day 76 (Montanaho) - "Two States for the Price of One": Some more border hiking getting all the way to Interstate 15 and access to Lima. Passed on and went up the dirt road and then up into the grassy mega mountains.
CDT Day 75 (Montanaho) - 'Not My Day ": A rough day of hiking out me in a bad mood today. Struggled on and made some big miles still, but hoping for a better day tomorrow.
CDT Day 74 (Montanaho) - "Where the Green Grass Grows": Em route to my trekdown to the highway, saw a Bullwinkle Moose and had nice smooth two track. Then up and up and up.
CDT Day 73 (Montanaho) - "Beauty Border, Eh?": Pretty top notch day making it up to Targhee Pass. The views were incredible and I truly enjoyed the day having fun taking lots of pictures and videos. Woohoo!
CDT Day 72 (Montanaho) - "The West Yellowstone In & Out": Started the day climbeding up to some marvelous Montana Meadows. Headed in to resupply in West Yellowstone, got back to trail, and set myself up to start a big 195 mile stretch of trail!
CDT Day 71 (Montanwyomaho) - "2,000, Divergence, and the Three State Day": Sort of felt like big changes today. New state(s), no mosquitos, and I started a solo adventure. Where shall my path lead from here?
CDT Day 70 (Wyoming) - "What's the Story Morning Glory?": A pretty awesome day 70 on the good old CDT. There was something about today, we felt relaxed, took our time, and really enjoyed our last full day in Yellowstone.
CDT Day 69 (Wyoming) - "Yellowstone (Bogs, Geysers and O.F.)": we had a half days hiking to get to our destination of Old Faithful Village. On the way, we had fun times getting to see some of the crazy things this park has to showcase.
CDT Day 68 (Wyoming) - "Yellowstone (The Heart and Forest to Shoshone": Marathon day on the CDT. Wowsers folks, what a day. Geothermal pools, lakes, a swim, mosquitos, maybe a bear, crushing miles, beautiful lakeside camping.
CDT Day 67 (Wyoming) - "Yellowstone (The Car Wash, Snake, and Heart": We made it to Yellowstone today and we greeted by the wondrous Snake River Valley. Capped things off with the Heart River and a side hike to our permit camp site near Outlet Creek.
CDT Day 66 (Wyoming) - "Two Oceans and Bear Singing": A pretty awesome day of hiking that included a visit to the parting of the ways (drainages to two different oceans), climbs up 3 humps to 10,000 ft, and overall just wonderful scenery.
CDT Day 65 (Wyoming) - "A Bear, S. Buffalo, and Finding Finder": In today's episode of hiking the CDT with Stevie we have a convo about bears, cross a couple rivers that we'd feared, find a thru-er from my New Mexico days, and hike in the burn.
CDT Day 64 (Wyoming) - "Hurdles In (and Out)!of Dubois": Lots to take care of in the lovely small town of Dubois. We were not afraid and our team came together to get it done and get back on trail. All seemed well until the clouds grew darker and darker.
CDT Day 63 (Wyoming) - "The Breakfast Change-Up": With about 17 mikea between us and town, we decided to push for it. Got in to town and were welcomed in by the local churches. Such amazing folks we meet on these trails!
CDT Day 62 (Wyoming) - "Openness, Meadows, and Such": Today's post brings forth some lovely scenes of meadow cruising and a bit of two track walking up high looking out far and wide.
CDT Day 61 (Wyoming) - "Green Goodness and Gunsight": We had a pleasant morning cruising along the lakes and the Green River. Beautiful! And seem to be at a transition from rocky jagged peaks to more greenery and forest and meadows.
CDT Day 60 (Wyoming) - "Snow, a Cube, and the Green": Another incredible day on the CDT. We had a slow hike up some snow in the morning, I went on a solo expedition, and we made our way down to the supremely picturesque Green River.
CDT Day 59 (Wyoming) - "Right Back In It": A slog of a day getting back on trail after our lovely stay in Pinedale. Cruising along Lower Jean Lake into our stunning camp is a memory that's going to stick with me!
CDT Day 58 (Wyoming) - "Zero in Pinedale": Hanging in town, meeting new folks, eating good food, resupplying. It was a great time in Pinedale!
CDT Day 57 (Wyoming) - "Beautiful Things En Route to Pinedale": Absolutely gorgeous couple miles of the CDT before turning off to hike 11 miles towards a trailhead and into town. Trail angels to the rescue and ice cream treats.
CDT Day 56 (Wyoming) - "Malicious Murderous Mosquitos and a Hat": athe winds journey continues getting over Hat Pass and the rollercoaster up and downs that follow. Mosquitos bad... Stevie, Cheer, and Snickers angry at them
CDT Day 55 (Wyoming) - "Banking Some Miles": The team opted to hike off the alternate back to the CDT. It's was another day full of wonderful walking. Lakes, streams, meadows, snowy mountains surrounding... we got it all.
CDT Day 54 (Wyoming) - "Breathless in Many Ways": All photos post! What an incredible day. We were all left simple stunned by the swings and their majesty. Will be coming back here.
