Meet Veronica Watson

I bought a van today! She is a 2002 Volkswagen Eurovan and her name is Veronica Watson šŸ™‚

The naming of a van is a special thing. Typically, I imagine, for most van owners it might take some relationship building and joint experiences between driver and van prior to a christening. In my situation, however, I knew this beauty’s name even before I made the final purchase. A recollection came to me of an especially enjoyable Boy Meets World episode in which Shawn Hunter attempts to go on a date with the prettiest girl in the 8th grade, Veronica Watson. This show had quite the impact on my life (so many life lessons learned from Mr. Feeney) and so it just felt right. My former vehicle, Carlton the Chevy Cobalt, was a trooper making it to the 309,744 miles prior to our sad parting, and he was also named after a character from my childhood television experiences, Carlton Banks of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. So… Veronica the VW van it is!

You might be asking, why am I creating a blog post about my van?

In less than a month, I will be moving to Southwest Utah in order to participate as a field boss for the Utah Conservation Corps. I plan to convert my van into a tiny house of sorts and it will be my home for the 9 month season I’ll be serving. There is much in Michigan that I’ll be missing while away, but I’m pretty pumped for the position and for the many conservation projects I’ll have the opportunity to be a part of. I’m also excited to get out and see so many wonderful scenic areas out west and do so while trying out this van life thing!

I’ve had a few friends ask for pictures throughout the van transformation process, so I figured, why not write some blog posts while going though it?

Should be fun!

Another adventure for Mr. Wonder. Southwest Utah has some of the most unusual and beautiful wonders to explore. Since you will be so
close to So. Cal. we should plan a rendezvous.
